Ford Mustang GT Official Show Car of the 2014 Miami Auto Show
Miami, FL – October 20, 2014 – “American classic muscle” and “iconic” are not words to be tossed around lightly in the automotive world, but there’s no doubting their appropriateness when it comes to the Ford Mustang GT. They are very much on the mark.
It is fitting, then, that as the Mustang celebrates its 50th birthday, a Magnetic Metallic-color Mustang GT with a Redline interior will serve as the official Show Car of the 44th annual Miami International Auto Show.
More than 9 million Mustangs have been sold in its half-century of continuous production, but the Mustang’s popularity and fame goes beyond mere numbers. Over the years, the Mustang has made thousands of appearances in film, television, music and video games, and it is the world’s “most-liked” vehicle on Facebook.
The 2015 Mustang comes in six trim levels, including one with a new turbocharged four-cylinder engine. A 3.7-liter V6 still serves as the standard power plant on the base model.
The GT is the Big Boy of the group. It features a 5.0-liter V8 that sends 435 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels when nurtured with 93-octane fuel.
A six-speed manual transmission is standard with a six-speed SelectShift automatic with paddle shifters as an option. Even with that power, the GT has earned EPA ratings of 15 miles-per-gallon city, 25 highway with the manual and 16/25 mpg with the automatic.
The GT rides on standard 18-inch wheels with 19-inch and 20-inch available as options. New front and rear suspension systems enhance the ride quality, and the interior features some retro design touches, such as the dual-cowl dashboard, while also offering modern technological innovations as well, including Ford’s improved Sync system for voice operation of many functions.
Key new design features for the all-new Mustang include:
· A sleeker profile with a return to the traditional fastback styling with its more steeply sloped windshield and rear glass;
· A lower, wider stance with a reduction in roof height and wider rear fenders and track;
· A more contemporary execution for the signature shark-bite front fascia and trapezoidal grille;
· Three-dimensional tri-bar tail lamps with sequential turn signals.
The result is a modern treatment of an automotive icon.
The Miami International Auto Show presented by Ally Auto is among the largest nationally and takes place Friday, November 7 through Sunday, November 16, 2014. Admission to the show is $15 for adults, $6 children ages 6-12, and free for children 5 and under.
